If you know anything about Chicago’s Chance The Rapper you would know he is an artist who is proud in making decisions that are true to him. The 20-something year old rapper has had great deal of success but has always found a way to stay him. In a recent interview with Jordan Peele for Teen Vogue; Peele asked Chance a series a question in which one ended up with the rapper sharing that Dave Chappelle was one of his role models. Specifically Chance goes to share that it was Chappelle’s 2011 appearance on Inside The Actors Studio that always stuck with him. Check out Chappelle’s interview below.
My three role models growing up were the three most confident, powerful, important, contemporary male black figures: Kanye West, Barack Obama, and Dave Chappelle. When I was a kid, my dad made me watch Dave Chappelle’s Inside the Actors Studio, where he explained what he wanted to stand for. I would largely attribute my identity—as it relates to music labels and corporate music giants—to Dave Chappelle and his relationship to and firm standing in Hollywood.
